‘I’m being indicted for you’ says Trump at NH rally

“I’m being indicted for you,” said former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally this week in New Hampshire, speaking of legal troubles that plague him as he tries to secure another term in the White House.

People in the crowd cheered the 2024 presidential election GOP nominee frontrunner. He’s fresh off an Iowa Caucus win and polling ahead of former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the other Republican nominee hopefuls.

“Never forget, our enemies want to take away my freedom because I’ll never let them take away your freedom,” Trump added as the crowd clapped.
He listed these “enemies” as “Democrats, Marxists, Communists and Fascists.”

At the same time, others are concerned that another term for Trump would be a blow to democracy in the U.S. He has continued to make unfounded claims about election interference though he lacks any evidence. These claims are also linked to some of the more than 90 charges filed against him spread among four indictments.

Already, at least one poll has shown that people in the U.S. don’t think democracy is working well here. Another found that Canadians are worried that our nation won’t survive another term with Trump as Commander-in-Chief.

While Trump is still polling ahead in New Hampshire, his lead against Haley is slimmer there than in Iowa. He made appearances in the state throughout the weekend ahead of the Tuesday primary.

The former president also took to his Truth Social platform to call Haley “birdbrain” in multiple posts. According to CNN, Haley went on her own attack against Trump this weekend, questioning his mental fitness after he confused her with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat. Haley has recommended mental competency tests for senior citizen politicians in the past.

As we get further into election season, Trump still faces court dates and other issues related to the indictments from last year. Some experts have said that he could be barred from appearing on ballots – the Colorado Supreme Court has even ordered just that – or face jail time.
