A lawsuit filed on Monday claims that Trojan condoms are unsafe due to the presence of toxic "forever chemicals," which have been associated with cancer risks.
In the proposed class action suit, filed in Manhattan federal court, plaintiff Matthew Goodman alleges that Church & Dwight's Trojan condoms, marketed as "America's #1 Condom," are unsuitable for their intended use because they contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
Goodman claims that independent lab testing of Trojan Ultra Thin condoms he purchased from a Manhattan pharmacy detected organic fluorine, a chemical rarely found outside of man-made PFAS.
The complaint states that Goodman "reasonably believed the product was safe for use on his genitalia" based on the product's labeling.
