Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s frozen meals recalled after ‘wood-like material’ detected

Nestle USA has announced that it is recalling four frozen food meals after they were found to potentially have the “presence of wood-like material.”

The company initiated the voluntary recall which was shared by the Food and Drug Administration in a recall notice for three Lean Cuisine frozen meals and one Stouffer’s product.

The products affected by the recall are the Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry, and Stouffer’s Party Size Chicken Lasagna. They were produced between Aug. 2024 and March 2025.

“We are taking this action after consumers contacted Nestle USA about this issue, including one potential choking incident to date,” Nestle USA said in a news release.

The recalled items were distributed to major retailers between Sept. 2024 and March 2025.

The specific “best-by” dates and bath numbers for each of the four recalled frozen meals can be found on the FDA’s website here.

Nestle shared that consumers who purchased any of the recalled products “should not prepare or consume” them but instead return them to the retailer where they were purchased.

“We are actively investigating the source of the wood-like material,” Nestle USA said in its release. “We are confident that this is an isolated issue, and we have taken action to address it.”

The company also noted that it is working with the FDA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture and will “cooperate with them fully.”
