CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Lightfoot Administration is looking for donations from the public to help settle migrants bused here from Texas.
The city has set up a website to list its needs, which include: clothing, gym shoes, toiletries, luggage, diapers, and more.
On its website, the city said it would not accept used items, nor would it accept food donations. Donations of baby formula, though, would be accepted.
Underwear and cold weather clothes were among other specific items the City of Chicago said it would prioritize. The city said it is preparing a list of dropoff locations and has a registration form for those interested in volunteering.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s administration said it anticipates Texas will continue to send migrants here, and that “We remain committed to providing support and resources to our newly arrived neighbors.”
