Former President Donald Trump spoke at this weekend’s Turning Point USA conference in Florida. The event held a straw poll for the Republican nominee, and Trump’s big win saw him celebrating on social media.

“Just heard that I (WE!) won the big Turning Point Straw Poll in a BLOWOUT, getting 85.7% of the Vote,” Trump posted on his social media site Truth Social.

In the straw poll, attendees were asked who their top choice for the nominee would be, and Trump had 85% of the crowd’s support. Second to Trump was Michigan businessman Perry Johnson (7.8%), followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (4.3%), and Vivek Ramaswamy (2%).

“Ron DeSanctimonious came in a solid 3rd with 4.3%, Vivek got 2%, and Sloppy Chris Christie, as usual, got a big, fat, ZERO!” Trump said in his post. “Turning Point put on a GREAT event in West Palm Beach, setting all kinds of records, including in attendance!”

The poll listed Christie, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as other choices, but all collected 0.0%.

When the crowd was asked who their second choice for president would be, the up-and-coming wild card in the race, Ramaswamy, earned the top spot with 51% of the attendees’ support. Trump followed him in second with 21%, followed by DeSantis with 13%, and Scott with 6%.

The event and poll organizers shared that those who participated were asked not to list their first-choice candidate as also their second-choice, but some did for Trump anyway.

The former president also spoke at the event, sharing more criticism for the number two contender for the GOP presidential nominee, DeSantis.

With insurers currently fleeing the state, citing the amount of damage caused by hurricanes and other storms, Trump said that the Florida governor needed to get home and stop neglecting his people.

“We are totally dominating DeSanctus right here in the state of Florida,” Trump said. “So, we want him to get home and take care of insurance because you have the highest insurance in the nation.”

During the speech, he went on to claim that DeSantis was hurting the party by running for the nominee.

“DeSanctimonious and his establishment handlers are wasting such precious time and resources to divide the party,” Trump said. “They’re dividing the party. Although, he’s dropping so quickly.”
