(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The strike against the big three American car companies could impact your ability to buy a car.

Matt Jones with TrueCar in Los Angeles tells the Noon Business Hour that the strike has yet to impact dealer inventories of brands sold by General Motors, Ford, or Stellantis.

However, a prolonged strike could impact dealers inventories for companies directly impacted by the strike and their competitors.

Jones said there could be a ripple effect if loyal big three customers buy cars elsewhere. For example, dealers that are not part of "the big three" brands may see an affect on their inventories.

A long UAW strike could also impact the used car market.

"If you have a vehicle that is only offered by these big three brands and this strike goes on, we can anticipate people actually seeing increased values in their cars."
