Make America Great Again Inc., the super PAC backing former President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, reported that it raised nearly $70 million in May despite Trump’s felony conviction.
In a stakeholder memo obtained by The Hill, MAGA Inc. CEO Taylor Budowich said the group’s fundraising adds to the almost $300 million already raised by the Trump campaign and other pro-Trump groups last month.
Now, that money will go to work for the super PAC’s plan to spend $100 million in paid media through Labor Day in four key battleground states.
The exact numbers will be verified by campaign finance reports once made available, but the fundraising explosion followed Trump’s conviction on 34 felony counts in his New York hush-money case.
Budowich touched on the case in her memo, saying it was exactly what the former president’s opponents wanted.
“Joe Biden and the Democrats wanted a conviction, and they got it, for now,” Budowich wrote. “However, the fundamental political realities driving voter motivation remain unchanged: voters are pessimistic about America’s future, large majorities believe the country has gotten worse on a number of critical issues, and President Trump’s favorability and job approval has actually increased this year, while those same measures have gotten worse for Joe Biden.”
The memo also targeted Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada as key states that the super PAC will focus on to help Trump win in November.
Budowich said that the super PAC is planning on playing “a substantial role in Pennsylvania through November,” adding that the state’s 19 electoral votes are crucial for the former president.
Budowich stressed that Trump needs a victory in several swing states and states he lost in 2020 to win a second term. Budowich also noted that while it wouldn’t be easy, the work would be done.
“We are under no illusion it will be easy, or fair—but thankfully, President Trump is well positioned to win as long as we all continue doing our part,” Budowich said. “We have conserved resources for this moment, and MAGA Inc. will continue to put every dollar we raise straight into ensuring President Trump wins in November.”
