Cook County prosecutors say a man facing arson charges had set fires in his South Shore apartment building because he was kicked out by his roommates.

Lawrence Bostic was repeatedly late with his part of the rent, prosecutors say, and set three fires at his former apartment building at 68th and Clyde.

The Chicago Tribune reports prosecutors said during a bond hearing, a roommate was able to put out one, while another was set in a baby stroller on a back porch. They say Bostic was seen in surveillance video holding lighter fluid over the March 5 fire, that went on to destroy 12 units, leaving several people without a place to stay and causing a million dollars in damages.

Cook County Judge Barbara Dawkins denied bail saying Bostic was a danger to his roommates, other residents of the building and people on his block.
