A Minnesota home burst into flames on Saturday when a small plane crashed into it, killing all of those who were on board, local officials shared.
Brooklyn Park Fire Chief Shawn Conway shared during a press conference on Saturday that it was not immediately known how many people were on board the plane at the time it crashed into the Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, home.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated at this time by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration. The investigation will focus on the pilot, aircraft, and the operating environment.
All of the people inside the home at the time were able to leave safely, Conway said. It was not clear if they had left the home before or after the crash.
The plane, a SOCATA TBM7, took off from Des Moines International Airport in Iowa and was headed towards Anoka County-Blaine in Minneapolis, according to the FAA. The plane crashed at around 12:20 p.m., the FAA added.
Video of the aftermath of the crash was captured and shared on social media, showing the home with a tree-filled yard engulfed in flames. Another showed large plumes of smoke rising from the home.
The videos appeared to show that no other homes around the one on fire were affected.
The NTSB was sending investigators to the scene of the crash on Saturday and are expected to arrive on Sunday.
The agency is planning to collect flight track data and air traffic control communications.
