Republicans applauded Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), the third-ranking House Republican, with helping to make election night in the state House contests successful on Long Island.
Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) was the only GOP incumbent out of the four Long Island seats. Garbarino held New York's 2nd district.
In the 1st district, Republican Nicholas LaLota defeated Democrat Bridget Fleming.
Republican George Santos defeated Democrat Robert Zimmerman in the 3rd district.
In the 4th district, Republican Anthony D'Esposito defeated Democrat Lauren Gillen. As the district's first Republican representative in more than 25 years, D'Esposito will now take the place of Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-NY).
