As shocking images of cruelty and death continue to emerge from Russia’s aggressive invasion of their neighboring country, a new batch were revealed this week as charity UAnimals revealed over 300 dogs perished after being left to starve in an animal shelter in Borodyanka, Ukraine.
UAnimals reports that 485 dogs were left locked in their cages at the shelter when the fighting broke out over a month ago. They were left trapped there without food or water from late February until just days ago, when charity volunteers took advantage of the departure of Russian soldiers from the city.
When they entered the building on April 1, only 150 animals remained alive.

In early March, a number of volunteers attempting to bring food and water to animals abandoned in a shelter in Kyiv were killed by Russian soldiers, which likely informed the decision to leave these animals to die.
UAnimals said they have fed the surviving dogs and transported the 27 animals most in need of care to private clinics. They are looking to find homes for the other 123 dogs who lived through the ordeal.
