Skippy is voluntarily recalling nearly 162,000 pounds of peanut butter products over concerns that some jars could contain small stainless steel fragments.
The products were shipped to 18 states, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Other states include California, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.
The recall was issued Wednesday and impacts 9,353 cases of Skippy’s Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread, Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter Spread and Creamy Peanut Butter Blended With Plant Protein.
The company said the stainless steel fragments came from a piece of manufacturing equipment.
“Skippy Foods, LLC, out of an abundance of caution and with an emphasis on the quality of its products, is issuing the recall to ensure that consumers are made aware of the issue,” the company said in a statement. “The manufacturing facility's internal detection systems identified the concern.”
So far, Skippy has not received any complaints from consumers about the fragments.

No other Skippy peanut butter products are included in the recall.
