Target has announced plans to open 48 new stores across 22 states in 2025 as part of a major expansion, including six new locations in Texas - four in North Texas communities and two in the Houston area.
The North Texas openings include Dallas (Wynnewood Village), Forney, Fort Worth (Chisholm Trail/McPherson), and Little Elm, reflecting Target’s strategy to serve both growing suburbs and city neighborhoods.
In addition, the chain is expanding in Katy (Heritage) and Stafford, part of the Houston metro area rollouts.
These moves align with Target’s plan to open 300 stores over the next decade, aiming to stay within 10 miles of nearly every household in the U.S.
Target emphasizes that new store locations are carefully chosen based on community needs, site logistics, and existing store coverage, with close collaboration with local officials and residents to ensure an inviting, affordable experience.
The North Texas growth also builds on recent successes in the region - Target opened a large-format store in Denton this spring and plans additional local openings later this year.
These new outlets are expected to bring more than just retail space - they also create hundreds of jobs, bolster same‑day pickup options, and enhance fresh grocery offerings.
