A Washington teenager is going to be charged as an adult for allegedly killing a man who was asleep on a bus last month.
Detectives are still trying to find 17-year-old Miguel Dominguez, who prosecutors say fled the bus after the "senseless execution of a total stranger."
Video shows Dominguez boarding the Metro bus on October 3 around 5 p.m., while wearing a full ski mask and sitting towards the back for 12 minutes before pulling out a handgun and shooting the victim, 21-year-old Marcel Da'jon Wagner, according to charging documents obtained by MyNorthwest.
"There appears to be no interaction between Wagner and Dominguez whatsoever. In fact, it appears that Wagner might even be asleep," a detective wrote in the documents.
Investigators said Dominguez appeared to be texting or otherwise looking at his phone throughout the entire duration of the ride, pausing only occasionally to look outside. Eventually, he pulled the "stop" line to be let off at an upcoming stop.
As the bus was slowing down, Dominguez "[pulled] a handgun from somewhere on his person and suddenly [began] shooting Wagner, firing the gun repeatedly at him without uttering a single word," according to the documents.
Video shows other passengers on the bus were startled by the abrupt gunfire -- including a teen identified only as "GW," who got on the bus with Dominguez, police said.
"It appears Dominguez's own acquaintance, "GW", who reacts with shock and covers his head as Dominguez continues to fire his gun repeatedly at Wagner from just a few feet away," according to the documents.
After the shooting, Dominguez and GW made their way to the back of the bus as Dominguez shouted for the driver to open the door and then fired two shots at the still-closed door, according to the documents. The pair escaped as passengers took cover and Wagner slowly slumped downward into his seat, police noted.
Wagner was declared dead at the scene. No one else was injured.
After the shooting, detectives interviewed GW, who "stated he had no forewarning that Dominguez was going to shoot anyone and that neither he nor Dominguez even knew the victim," according to the documents.
Dominguez is charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. Prosecutors have requested that bail be set at $3 million once Dominguez is taken into custody.
