A TikTok prankster has found himself in hot water, as his latest prank resulted in him being arrested after he allegedly sprayed bug killer on food in an Arizona Walmart.
The Mesa Police Department confirmed the arrest in a statement to Fox News Digital, sharing that 27-year-old Charles Smith was charged with felony-level poisoning and misdemeanor-level criminal damage. He also faces misdemeanor charges of endangerment and theft.
The alleged incident that resulted in Smith’s arrest occurred on Dec. 19 at around 8:30 p.m., when police say the suspect entered a Mesa Walmart “intending to film pranks for social media.”
It was then that he grabbed a can of bug killer, which he didn’t pay for, and allegedly aimed the spray at both produce and prepared food items like rotisserie chickens.
“He then sprayed the pesticide on various produce items, including vegetables, fruit, and rotisserie chickens that were available for purchase,” the Mesa Police Department’s statement said. “Smith filmed his face, the pesticide can, and the act of spraying. He later posted the video online.”
Smith’s social media alias is allegedly “Wolfie Kahletti,” where he has more than 373,000 followers on Instagram. His TikTok page was not accessible when this story was published, potentially being taken down by the platform.
Smith turned himself over to the authorities and reportedly admitted to the crimes.
“Through investigative means, and with assistance from the Tempe Police Department, detectives were able to identify Smith as the suspect,” the statement said. “Mesa Police contacted Smith, and he turned himself in voluntarily. During the interview, Smith admitted to the theft and spraying of the pesticide.”
Authorities said the incident sheds light on “the potential dangers of reckless actions disguised as social media pranks.”
Smith has been held in jail since he turned himself over and was scheduled to make an appearance in court on Monday, Dec. 30.
