(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A miniature tote bag from Trader Joe’s has gone viral, and it's now selling for nearly two hundred times its retail price.

The newly released, limited-edition tote bags from Trader Joe’s cost about $3 in the store — if you can find them. If not, the downsized version of the grocery retailer’s traditional reusable tote is going for as much as $500 online.

Spurred on by social media, the tiny grocery bags come in colors of green, red, yellow and blue.

WBBM caught up with shopper Adam Taymer as he stepped out of a Chicago Trader Joe’s with two paper grocery bags.

“Why would I get a small one when I can get a big one for a couple cents at Trader Joe’s?” he said.

Taymer added that he would consider buying one of the mini totes if he knew he had a buyer lined up.

“If somebody came to me and said, ‘Hey if you get your hands on one of these, I will for sure buy it for $500,’ then I’d be like, ‘Why not,’” he said.

Another customer who checked out with the miniature sensation said she found the bag two weeks ago before it sold out.

The tote measures at about 11 inches long, 6 inches wide and 13 inches high.
