Transportation Security Administration officials stopped the passenger at a security checkpoint sometime during the morning, according to spokesperson Lisa Farbstein.

The weapon was concealed inside the buckle of his belt, Farbstein said, and the garment was not permitted through the checkpoint.

Farbstein joked that there was “no word on whether the man’s pants were able to stay on without the belt.”

TSA did not say if the traveler would face any repercussions for trying to bring the concealed weapon through the security checkpoint.

TSA guidelines state that most sharp objects such as box cutters, pocket knives, razor blades, Swiss Army knives, swords and more are not permitted in carry-on bags.

“Any sharp objects in checked bags should be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury to baggage handlers and inspectors,” TSA officials note.

The incident came just hours after another traveler was stopped with a set of brass knuckles in his carry-on bag, which are also strictly prohibited. That passenger was arrested.
