Former President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he has raised $6.6 million since news of his second indictment of the year broke last week.
In a message shared on Truth Social, Trump said that “since deranged Jack Smith took the unprecedented step of weaponizing the justice system,” against him that he’s raised millions in just a few short days.
Trump, who is campaigning to be the 2024 GOP presidential candidate, shared news of the indictment last week on the social media website.
This Tuesday, he pled not guilty to 37 charges against him related to keeping classified government documents after he left the White House in 2021.
Just a few months ago, Trump was indicted for another matter in Manhattan – an alleged hush money scheme. Trump is accused of paying off adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who claims she had an affair with him. He has denied the allegations, and allegations that he sexually abused columnist E. Jean Carroll, although a jury fond him guilty of those charges.
Fundraising numbers for the Trump campaign also got a boost after Trump’s first indictment, Audacy reported. He pleaded not guilty to those 34 charges April 4, and by April 16 he had raised more than $34 million in total.
POLITICO reported Wednesday that Trump raised $2 million within hours of his arraignment this week in Miami. Trump said $4.5 million has also been raised through digital fundraising.
Quinnipiac poll results released Wednesday showed that Trump still had support of more than half of Republican and Republican leaning voters.
