Looking to rid yourself of those pesky tan lines this summer but prefer natural sunlight to the beds at your local tanning salon?
A new ranking by British swimsuit company Pour Moi has good news for Americans, especially if they’re already planning a trip to the Sunshine State this summer.
In listing the top nude beaches in the world, two of them can be found in Florida, including the beach they list at #1.
Haulover Beach Park sports a nearly half-mile stretch of its allotted acreage that is devoted to beachgoing in the buff. And while the area is just a fraction of Haulover’s total available shoreline, it is apparently very popular.
On any given day, anywhere from 66 to 85% of the park’s visitors can be found exploring the nude beach, according to the Haulover Beach website.
Nudity however is confined to the clearly marked areas and is illegal elsewhere at Haulover Beach, and officials are quick to impress upon beachgoers that there is a difference between nakedness and what’s defined as “lewd behavior.”
“People conducting themselves in a lewd manner WILL be arrested by the police, and face very serious legal penalties,” the beach’s website says.
That same warning can be applied to Playalinda Beach in Brevard County, ranked at #20 on the list for its “beautifully unspoilt vibe.”
So what can’t you do at Florida’s nude beaches? According to Florida Statutes Section 800.03:
- Exposing or exhibiting his or her sexual organs in public or on the private premises of another, or so near thereto as to be seen from such private premises, in a vulgar or indecent manner; or
- Being naked in public in a vulgar or indecent manner Violating the law will result in a first-degree misdemeanor for first-time offenders.
Pour Moi’s ranking used Google reviews to determine their top 20.
