Volkswagen issued a massive recall on its SUVs over fears they could catch fire.

The German car manufacturer is recalling 177,493 crossover SUVs, including certain Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport vehicles in model years 2024 to 2025.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said they may have loose engine covers.

And engine covers that come loose can contact hot engine parts and that heightens the risk of a fire.

If you're the owner of an affected vehicle, the NHTSA says to ccontact your local Volkswagen dealership, which will remove the engine cover free of charge, to fix the issue.

This recall comes on the heels of several others for Volkswagen, including the recall of 60,000 EVs over a gear shift issue that could cause a rollaway risk a few days ago.
