"Clearly there's no lid on the country and who knows what's going to happen," says Fox News' Chris Wallace.

"It is a mess," says Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace of the situation in Afghanistan during his weekly visit on the Marc Cox Morning Show.

"You cannot ignore the fact that this was all set in motion when President Trump negotiated, or had his team negotiate, a deal with the Taliban back in 2020 to be out by May 1st of 2021 which was only, what, 3 months after the Inauguration ," points out the long-time Washington insider. "I think that there's enough blame to go around, but there is definitely the primary responsibility of what has happened in the seven-eight months that Joe Biden has been President."

"I'm not in any way, shape or form trying to down-play the role and how badly Joe Biden has handled this, he's made a mess of it," says Wallace, but the mission in Afghanistan has evolved over time.

"Under Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden, it had gone way beyond [the original mission] that and, as you say, become 'nation building', says Wallace.
