An unidentified Illinois woman certainly won’t forget the 2024 edition of her special day any time soon after she scratched off a lottery ticket worth $1 million that day.
The woman, a resident of Palos Heights, said she bought the $25 Diamond Crossword 10 Times ticket because it was purple, her favorite color.
“When I scratched the ticket in my car, I kept seeing wins that were getting bigger and bigger," she said in an Illinois Lottery press release.
"As I got to the end, I realized it was worth $1 million and I couldn’t believe it. I went back into the gas station to double check -- and it was real. I instantly started crying and my legs felt like noodles. I didn’t think I would be able to drive home,” she added.
Regarding her winnings, she said she wants to use her jackpot to give her kids “all the opportunities the world has to offer.”
