Applications are now being accepted for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society’s 2026–27 Education Assistance Program, which offers grants and interest-free loans to help Navy and Marine Corps families reach their academic goals.

NMCRS has provided essential educational support through scholarships and interest-free loans since 1964. Awards range from $500 to $3,000, and all grants and interest-free loans are based on financial need and tuition costs, said retired Navy Rear Adm. Dawn Cutler, chief operations officer for NMCRS.

“Our education assistance is geared towards spouses and children of active duty and retired Sailors and Marines,” she said. “This is a way to help them pursue their educational goals.”

The program is open to full-time and part-time students maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA and pursuing undergraduate or master’s degrees at accredited two- or four-year colleges, technical schools, or vocational institutions.

NMCRS program manager Andrea Nevin said one of the most rewarding parts of her job is seeing its impact up close.

“From children who take pride in their parents’ service and are eager to make their own mark on the world, to spouses who pursue their dreams while tirelessly supporting their service member, our scholars embody grit, determination, and resilience,” she said. “Their drive and commitment remind me every day why this program matters.”

NMCRS distributed $517,000 in scholarships and $44,000 in interest-free loans last year to nearly 500 Navy and Marine Corps families.

The application window closes on April 17. Eligible students can learn more here.
