President Donald Trump announced through Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth this week that Vice Adm. Frank M. Bradley has been selected for promotion to Admiral and nominated to command Special Operations Command (SOCOM) after Gen. Brian Fenton steps down from the role.
Bradley currently serves as the commander of the secretive Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), which includes SEAL Team Six and Delta Force.
He joined the Navy in 1991 and passed the Basic Underwater Demolitions / SEAL (BUD/S) training in 1992, after which he served assignments in SEAL Team 4 and with the SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) Team Two. In 1999, he screened for SEAL Team Six and was selected.
For the next 16 or so years, Bradley served in SEAL Team Six, carrying out numerous assignments as troop commander, squadron commander, deputy commander, and then was finally the commander of the entire unit. He then served stints as the JSOC deputy commander and then the commander of Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT), which oversees Special Operations Forces deployed to the Middle East.
Originally from Eldorado, Texas Bradley and, "was among the first to deploy to Afghanistan following the attacks of September 11, 2001," according to his Navy biography.
