While we keep hearing about the government and many car companies saying that switching to electric vehicles, (EV), will save money, many experts are talking about the real cost of the ‘green’ vehicles.

According to the EPA, the national average for a kilowatt-hour of electricity is 13 cents.  Many Level 2 charges available in office and shopping center parking lots can take up to eight hours to complete.

Fox Business recently noted that a one-to-one comparison of the cost of charging an EV versus filling a regular auto with gas indicated that EV charging appeared to be cheaper. However, other factors have been ignored.

If you wanted to install a Level 3 charger in your home, it will cost you up to $50,000 or more, which needs to include upgrading the electrical system in your house to power the device.
