Honor veterans' service virtually this Veterans Day with this social media campaign

COVID-19 has caused many annual Veterans Day parades and community celebrations to be canceled.

But a social media challenge launched by USAA and nonprofit partner The Mission Continues is underway that salutes and supports the 18 million living American military veterans for their service and sacrifice.

“It’s a great way for us to come together as a nation to celebrate those who have put service before self and partner with organizations like The Mission Continues allows us to do that,” said USAA’s Assistant Vice President of Military Advocacy and Air Force veteran Mike Kelly. “It’s personal for us.”

The "Honor Through Action" platform encourages people to show their appreciation for the nation’s veterans in a number of ways. One simple way you can honor veterans is through the "V Challenge" – draw the "V" symbol with the initials of a special veteran on the palm of your hand, snap a photo and then share it through social media using #HonorThroughAction, challenging others to show their appreciation this Veterans Day 

Opening day announced for National Museum of the United States ArmyYou can also connect with organizations such as The Mission Continues to discover local volunteer opportunities. 

 “Our mission is to connect veterans returning from their military service to opportunities to continue serving,” explained The Mission Continues President Mary Beth Bruggeman. “We help them find opportunities in communities to put the skills and experiences they gained in the military back to work here at home.”
