Five vintage aircraft from Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia will participate in the annual EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Fly-In and Convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, from July 21-27.
The fleet includes four aircraft that will offer rides to the public at Fond du Lac County Airport, near the EAA Airventure site.
“EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Airbase Leader Joel Perkins. “We join with thousands of aviation enthusiasts to celebrate our restored warbirds and offer rides that give people an experience of a lifetime.”
Airbase Georgia, based in Peachtree City, Ga., is one of the largest units of the CAF. It will be flying in its P-51 Mustang, a Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless dive bomber; an LT-6 Mosquito, and a T-34 Mentor.
A rare FG-1D Corsair fighter will also fly in for exhibition and demonstrations at EAA AirVenture.
CAF Airbase Georgia was founded in 1987 and is one of the largest units of the Commemorative Air Force. The group maintains and flies seven vintage military aircraft and is made up of more than 300 volunteer members and is a founding partner of the Georgia WWII Heritage Trail, which launched in 2021.
