You will soon see changes taking place at a downtown Wichita landmark.
On Tuesday, the Wichita City Council approved nearly $10 million dollars in improvements to Century II, starting in 2023.
Three significant projects are planned next year for the facility, including rehabilitation of the blue dome roof, with a price tag of $5 million. City leaders say bids for the work will go out this fall, with the new roof completed by the end of next year, preferably by the end of summer.
Upgrades to the fire alarm and air conditioning systems will also take place, at a cost of nearly $1.2 million and $1.5 million respectively. The city will make improvements to WiFi, lifts and elevators, stage and rigging systems and to internet wires and switches.
