60 years ago on this night (1965), one of the greatest wins in Wichita State men's basketball history, as the Shockers defeated the #2-ranked team in the nation, beating Michigan 100-94 in front of 10,921 fans in a packed Roundhouse at 21st & Hillside.
The Shockers blitzed the Wolverines with 65% shooting from the field; Michigan was led by its star player, Cazzie Russell.
WSU was without one of its stars as John Criss was out the lineup, suffering from a bruised thigh.
One big star for the Shockers was John Criss, who was 9-for-10 shooting from the floor, for 19 points -- but that was only the second-best shooting night for a WSU player.
Jamie Thompson was even better, shooting a perfect 9-for-9 from the field, and 10-for-10 from the free-throw line for his 28 points.
With the huge win, the Shockers were off to a 2-0 start to the season.
