
The junior college national championship softball tournament is underway in Yuma, Arizona; in the first round on Tuesday night, #2 national seed Butler Community College defeated #15 Trinity Valley (TX) 10-2 in six innings.
The winning pitcher for the Grizzlies was sophomore Maddie Redman, who improved to 25-0 on the season.
Butler (50-2) has now won 46 consecutive games; the Grizzlies last lost on February 5.
Butler has advanced to the winner's bracket quarterfinals, for a matchup Wednesday evening vs. #7-seed Three Rivers (MO); Three Rivers is 43-4, and has won 14 straight games.
