A lot of people are expecting a lot of production from Mecole Hardman this year. Heading into his third pro season, Hardman -- who the Chiefs took in the 2nd round (56 overall) in the 2019 draft -- has flashed plenty of potential, putting up 1,098 yards and 10 touchdowns on 67 catches in 32 games. He hasn't yet found the consistency to be a dependable part of Kansas City's offense, however -- he's only started 13 games so far, and his 2020 numbers regressed after a strong rookie season. With Sammy Watkins now in Baltimore, the spotlight's firmly fixed on Hardman (and the rest of the depth chart behind Tyreek Hill). Can he make the infamous third-year leap? After Monday's camp session, Hardman talked about it with 610's Cody and Gold.
"I've been getting more opportunities out there on the field," Hardman said when asked whether this season feels bigger to him. "Somebody's got to step up and take advantage of every opportunity, and I want to do that. If my number is called today, I think I'm ready for the challenge, and will step up to the plate and try to knock it out of the park. We're just going to see how it goes."
