Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was arrested Tuesday in Dallas County after violating the terms of his probation and ordered to serve 30 days in jail, according to court documents.
Rice reportedly tested positive for THC while serving probation tied to his role in a 2024 high-speed crash in Dallas that injured multiple people. A judge ordered him to begin serving the 30-day sentence immediately. He is expected to remain in custody until June 16.
The 26-year-old receiver originally received five years of probation and deferred jail time after pleading guilty to felony charges connected to the multi-vehicle crash. Prosecutors said the positive drug test violated the conditions of that agreement.
Rice’s jail sentence is expected to cause him to miss the Chiefs’ organized team activities and mandatory minicamp later this spring.
The former SMU standout was suspended for the first six games of the 2025 NFL season after the league determined he violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy stemming from the crash. Despite the off-field issues, Rice has become one of Kansas City’s top offensive weapons since being drafted in the second round in 2023.
