Coming off a loss to Jacksonville, the Kansas City Chiefs went into Sunday Night Football at Arrowhead looking to even up their record in a matchup with the Detroit Lions. Detroit came into the game with the highest scoring offense in the league and a 4-game winning streak.

And that Detroit offense got on the board first with a field goal. But the Chiefs answered back with a touchdown pass from QB Patrick Mahomes to WR Xavier Worthy, although the extra point from struggling kicker Harrison Butker was missed. Detroit got a lead back with a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. But before halftime Mahomes got into the end zone on a 1-yard run taking a lead to the locker room.

After halftime the Chiefs built their lead to 10 with a TD pass from Mahomes to WR Hollywood Brown.  The Lions struck quickly in the 4th quarter, making it a 3 point game with another TD.  But the Chiefs defense locked down at that point while KC would get a FG and another TD from Mahomes to Brown for the 30-17 win.

Chiefs evened up their record to 3-3 while the Lions dropped to 4-2.  But the action wasn't entirely over at the final whistle.  During the usual postgame handshakes, Lions defensive back Brian Branch snubbed Mahomes attempt at a handshake.  Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster took exception to the behavior and exchanged words with Branch.  Branch then shoved Smith-Schuster by the helmet and a scuffle began.  At some point in the scuffle, Branch grabbed Smith-Schuster's helmet and wrenched it off. The NFL is investigating the incident.

Next up for KC another home matchup, they host division rival Las Vegas on Sunday.
