Wichita basketball legend Antoine Carr is now 60 years old.

Carr was born in Oklahoma City; he later had a legendary prep career at Wichita Heights high school, then stayed in Wichita to play college basketball at Wichita State University.

In his four years with the Shockers, Carr averaged 17 points per game, and shot 55% from the field. In his final game at WSU, he scored 47 points vs. Southern Illinois; that's still the single-game scoring record for the Wichita State basketball program.

Carr exited WSU as the third all-time leading scorer in team history.

The Detroit Pistons drafted Carr with the #8 overall pick in the NBA draft; however, Carr could not reach a contract agreement with the Pistons, and he played professionally in Italy.

After his year abroad, Carr returned to the U.S. and began his NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks. Carr played 16 years in the NBA for a half-dozen teams; he made back-to-back appearances in the NBA finals in the late 1990s as a member of the Utah Jazz.

Carr finished his NBA career with more than 9,000 points, 3,400 rebounds, and 900 blocked shots.

Antoine Carr's #35 is among only five retired numbers in the history of Wichita State basketball; his jersey hangs from the rafters of Koch Arena at WSU.

Carr is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame; the Shocker Sports Hall of Fame; the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame; and the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame.
