
It's another win for the first-place Wichita Thunder team, after Patrik Parkkonen scored with 0.2 seconds remaining in overtime in Wichita's 4-3 win at the Kansas City Mavericks Tuesday night at Cable Dahmer Arena.
Parkkonen led Wichita with three points, and Austin McIlmurray scored a pair of goals, his first two-goal game as a professional. Goalie Evan Weninger stopped 39 shots for his ninth win of the season.
Wichita trailed three times in the game, but came back tie it up on each occasion.
The Thunder is in first place atop the conference standings in the ECHL. Tuesday game ended a stretch in which Wichita played eight of its past 10 games on the road; the Thunder won five of those road games.
Wichita now looks forward to home ice at Intrust Bank Arena downtown for a 10-game homestand during a 16-day stretch, starting Friday.
