On Thursday, 24-year-old Jaime Echenique became the 15th former Wichita State athlete to play in the NBA, coming off the bench for the Washington Wizards.
With 3:04 remaining in the game, the 6-foot-11 center checked in and became the first-ever NBA player from Colombia.
Echenique played with the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards' G-League affiliate, this season before he signed to a 10-day contract with Washington earlier Thursday.
The Wizards defeated the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers 110-93; the Wizards have won three of their last five games, and are in the #8 spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
