It was WSU's first win over a ranked opponent in 13 years; in the third season under head coach Mark Turgeon, the Shockers were finally starting to turn things around.

WSU jr. Aaron Hogg had 27 points & 10 rebounds in the victory for the Shockers, as the Wichita State defense held Creighton star Kyle Korver to 15 points.

The Shockers were playing their home games at the Kansas Coliseum while Levitt Arena was being torn down and rebuilt as Charles Koch Arena on campus.
