At this point, it's hard to avoid Whit Merrifield trade rumors. The Royals are 13 games under .500 and 16 back in the division; plenty of teams are in need for a versatile infielder who's slashing .272/.319./402. With the Friday trade deadline closing in, how much is Merrifield plugged into the trade rumors? He joined the Cody and Gold show on Monday to answer that:

"It always feels the same," he said in regards to this year's trade rumors versus years past. "It is what it is. It's going to happen or its not. At this point in my career, I don't really have much say into what happens. You know, I'm happy here. If I end up getting moved, it'll probably be to a good situation with a team that's contending. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, obviously. I'm sure I'd be happy with that. We'll see. The good thing about the way it's going now is that once July 31st comes and goes, that's it. There's no more of those waiver deals that used to happen a couple years ago. We'll know for sure come Friday."
