
Learning about baseball player's social lives is kind of like seeing a past teacher out in public: you know the possibility exists, and that it should be normal, yet something about it seems … strange? It's an oddly unsettling dynamic that somehow has a way of making mundane details -- like, for instance, a group Royals having cookout on July 4th -- all the more fascinating. On Tuesday morning, Whit Merrifield detailed some of those mundane details with the Cody and Gold show:
"[Brady Singer] was the cook. He enjoys being Dad in situations like," he said. "We found him that role, and the rest of us got to be our regular, immature selves while he took care of us ... He did a good job. He was in his element for sure. Food turned out good ... it was your standard 4th of July stuff. We had burgers and brats and steaks and watermelon and certain drinks, so it was a good time."
