
The 87th National Baseball Congress World Series finished its fifth and final day of competition in Hutchinson on Sunday, with four loser's bracket games.
Among the teams eliminated were the Wichita 316 Sluggers, and the Liberal Bee Jays.
Sunday's winners were the Derby Twins, the Seattle Studs, the Great Bend Bat Cats, and the Hutchinson Monarchs.
Monday is Day 6 at the World Series, and the remainder of this year's event now shifts to downtown Wichita, the long-time home of the NBC World Series. Monday evening's games will be the first for the NBC World Series in the newly-built $70 million Riverfront Stadium.
Monday's slate includes a pair of games in the Winner's Bracket semifinals; at 6:00 p.m., the Santa Barbara Foresters face the Hays Larks, followed at 8:30 p.m. by the Cheney Diamond Dawgs taking on Lonestar Texas.
*Sunday evening marked the championship game of the inaugural SummerBall ShowDown, a five-day competition in Goddard. In the championship game, the Kansas Cannons defeated the Texas Express 9-5.
