Michigan powered past UConn 69-63 in the NCAA championship game, denying the Huskies a chance to continue their budding dynasty and securing the program’s first title since 1989.
The Wolverines leaned on defense and physical play, holding UConn to just over 30% shooting while controlling the paint and dominating at the free-throw line.
Elliot Cadeau led Michigan with 19 points and was named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player, while Trey McKenney hit a key late three-pointer to help seal the win.
UConn, which entered the game seeking its third title in four years, stayed within striking distance but struggled with turnovers and foul trouble at key moments.
The victory gives Michigan its second national championship in program history and caps a dominant tournament run built on defense, depth, and a transfer-heavy lineup.
