The season came to an end for Wichita State Men's Basketball last night in Stillwater, OK as Oklahoma State defeated the Shockers 89-79 in the first round of the NIT. Wichita State finishes the season at 19-15 overall.
Xavier Bell entered the game one point away from becoming the 49th Shocker to eclipse 1,000 career points. Bell got it early on a three-pointer in the first half. He finished with a game-high 24 points in his final performance as a Shocker. Corey Washington and Quincy Ballard both recorded double-doubles. Washington logged 21 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-16 shooting, while Ballard had 19 points and 15 rebounds.
Wichita State was outrebounded for the second straight game, 46-42, including 17 Oklahoma State offensive rebounds. The Shockers managed to keep it close, only trailing 40-35 at halftime. But the Cowboys could always hold off a WSU comeback and rebuild a lead. OSU hung on to a double digit lead for essentially the final 10 minutes to lock down the 89-79 win.
