Former Shocker Austin Reaves named First Team All-Big 12 Conference in men's basketball

The Big 12 Conference has released its All-Conference honorees for the men's basketball season.

Former Wichita State guard Austin Reaves, a senior at Oklahoma, was named First Team All-Big 12 Conference. Reaves averaged 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game, leading the Sooners in all three categories. He led the conference in free-throw shooting, at 87%; Reaves was also second in the conference in scoring, and third in assists.

Kansas jr. David McCormack was named the Big 12 Conference Most Improved Player. He averaged 13 points and six rebounds per game, and shot 51% from the field, the second-best mark in the Big 12.

KU sr. Marcus Garrett was named to the Big 12 Conference All-Defensive Team for the third consecutive season. He's fifth in the Big 12 in steals at 1.6 per game, sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.79), and 11th in assists (3.7). Garrett has 16 steals in his last seven games and averages 10 points and 4.4 rebounds per outing. On Feb. 25, he was named one of 10 to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year semifinalists, an honor he won in 2020.

Kansas' Jalen Wilson was named to the Big 12 Conference's All-Newcomer Team and the All-Freshman Team. Wilson has posted six double-doubles in his last nine games, including a KU freshman record four consecutive. He leads Kansas in rebounds, and his eight boards per game are second in the Big 12 and tops among league freshmen. Wilson averages 12 points per game and has made 39 3-pointers. His nine double-doubles this season are second in the conference.
