Whataburger is expanding to Kansas thanks to NFL player Patrick Mahomes

Whataburger is headed to Kansas thanks to a famous NFL player who hails from Texas.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who grew up in Whitehouse Texas near Tyler, loves Whatburger. In fact, he loves it so much he's planning to bring Whataburger restaurants to Kansas.

Mahomes says he grew up eating Whataburger and he issued a statement saying " I’m excited to help bring a gift from my first home to my second home". Mahomes is part of a group of investors from Texas who plan to open 30 Whataburgers in Kansas.

The fast-food restaurants will be located all across the state, but will be concentrated in the Kansas City metro area. The first one in the metro area is expected to open in Overland Park. Another location near Liberty Kansas is scheduled to open in the fall of 2022.

The Texas-based fast food chain is also planning to expand to Tennessee.
