Wichita State made school history Thursday night, draining a record 16 three-pointers in a dominant 95-74 victory over Loyola Chicago at Charles Koch Arena.
The Shockers (3-0) shot an efficient 50 percent from beyond the arc (16-for-32), with Kenyon Giles and Michael Gray Jr. accounting for 12 of those makes. Giles led all scorers with 24 points on 7-of-8 shooting from three-point range, tying for fourth-most in program history. Gray added 17 points on five triples.
Five players reached double figures for WSU. Will Berg notched his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Dre Kindell contributed 12 points, seven assists and three steals off the bench. Karon Boyd chipped in 10 points.
The Shockers also tied a school record with just two turnovers for the game. Wichita State has averaged 100 points per game over its last two contests while shooting 47.3 percent from three.
After Loyola's early 6-3 lead, WSU took control with an 11-0 run and never trailed again, building a 50-36 halftime advantage. The Shockers extended their lead to 28 points in the second half to cruise to victory.
Wichita State travels to face Boise State on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. CT.
