Top-seed Wichita State will play South Florida in the American Tournament quarterfinals on Friday

The American Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament is underway in Fort Worth, Texas. In the opening game of the tourney, #9-seed South Florida defeated #8-seed Temple 73-71.

With the win, USF advances to play conference champion Wichita State at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the quarterfinals.

WSU has defeated South Florida twice this season: a five-point overtime win in Tampa before Christmas, and a conference-clinching 17-point victory at Koch Arena last Saturday. The Shockers are 5-1 all-time vs. the Bulls, including wins in their last four meetings.
