The Wichita Wind Surge minor-league baseball team picked up a 7-1 road win Wednesday night in Missouri, defeating the bottom team in the league, the Springfield Cardinals.

Making his first start in Double-A was pitcher Tyler Beck, a 30th-round pick by the Minnesota Twins; Beck pitched six shutout innings, with six strikeouts.

Rightfielder Leobaldo Cabrera was 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs driven in, including a two-run home run, leading Wichita to its second win in its last three games.

This was the second game of a six-game series in Springfield, and game eight of a 12-game road trip for the Wind Surge.

Wichita is in the #2 spot in the league standings, with a three-game lead for the final playoff spot with four weeks remaining in the season.

The Wind Surge takes on the Cardinals again Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
