Two men were killed and two other people were critically injured in a fire at a suspected marijuana grow operation in Canoga Park, police said Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to flames erupting from the building on N. Canogo Ave. around 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

One woman said her husband saw a man engulfed in flames as he ran out of the building.

An LAFD official confirmed finding one man dead Tuesday morning. It’s unclear when first responders discovered the person's body.

Officials said the fire severely burned three other men. Two remained in critical condition. The other man died after the fire burned 90% of his body, officials said.

LAFD said it took at least 150 firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the blaze in the one-story building housing a marijuana grow operation.

Fire officials said the business was running its hemp extraction operation legally but was not permitted for other activities they discovered.

"He described ... a gentleman who came out fully engulfed, on fire," a witness told ABC 7. "He got the fire extinguisher, put the gentleman out, and helped to drag him to safety."

While crews were able to prevent the fire from impacting nearby buildings, several cars were damaged. Firefighters stayed on the scene to check for hotspots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
