IRVINE, Calif. (KNX) — The refusal of Orange County-based fast food chain In-N-Out to enforce Califronia's vaccine mandate has reportedly prompted a discussion between ownership and the government of Florida.

In-N-Out's owner Lynsi Snyder Ellingson had a call with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Monday about the possibility of expanding franchises there. Florida currently bars companies from requiring customers to show proof of vaccination in order to enter.

There are no In-N-Out restaurants east of Texas, as its suppliers are all West Coast-based. State officials said they are looking into identifying potential suppliers in Florida.

In a statement, In-N-Out's Chief Legal and Business Officer Arnie Wensinger acknowledged the conversation between Ellingson and DeSantis took place, but said the company had "no plans or intention to expand operaations or move its corporate headquarters to Florida."
