Another deadly shooting has taken place at a house party in the Beverly Crest neighborhood, leaving one person dead and another wounded.
Officers were called to the 2200 block of San Ysidro Drive about 2:30 a.m., a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed. Upon their arrival, they found two gunshot victims.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesperson said. The second victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
KNX reporter Jon Baird says officials say the house was rented for a party. About 30 or so people were gathered and the shooting took place during an argument.
On August 3, officers were called to a mansion in the Hollywood Hills, above Beverly Hills after reports of disturbing the peace. There was a shooting at the gathering, leaving two people wounded and one dead. The shooting was investigated as a homicide.
KNX is reporting that the house was rented for someone for $10,000 for an unidentified NFL player, with some 200 people in attendance.
LA Mayor Eric Garcetti authorized the city to shut off LADWP service in egregious cases in which houses, businesses and venues are hosting unpermitted, large gatherings amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We have been clear from the beginning that getting together in groups outside of your household that is not permitted, is not allowed and we have asked Angelenos not to gather and not have parties," Garcetti said.
